Booking and Cancellation Policies

Day Trips

Payment in full is required to hold your space on a day trip. 

Full refund or credit up until 21 days prior to departure!

20-8 days before your tour:

  • Change to a different date or trip with no fees. 
  • Refunds are available minus a 15% fee. 

No refunds or credits within 7 days of your departure. 

If we have to cancel for any reason you’ll get 100% refund.

Trip Minimums

Our day trips have a trip minimum. You will find that Trip Minimum on the booking page of the trip along with information on how to determine how close we are to filling up. If we cannot reach our minimum we cannot operate that trip as scheduled and you will either be refunded or rescheduled based on your choice.

If your trip has not met its minimum when you book you will receive a "pending" confirmation. Once we meet our minimum you will receive a "confirmed" confirmation. 

Lodging/Airlines/Other Considerations:

We understand you may be booking other accommodations on your trip. If you have a cancellation window on your other accommodations that doesn't match with our, please call to discuss options. Thanks!

Expeditions and CIAMP

All payments are non-refundable unless you purchase CIEx Trip Protect at the time of booking.

Deposit is due to hold your space. This is non-refundable unless you have CIEx Trip Protect.

Balance is due 30 days prior to departure.

Expedition Minimums - if we have not met our minimums on the trip 30 days prior to departure, we will cancel the expedition and refund your deposit in full OR transfer to another desirable date; your choice. 

Private Charters

Day Charters

$500 deposit is required to hold your dates if booked 30 or more days in advance. If you are booking within 30 days payment in full is required. 

Liveaboard Charters

Payment Option 1: One full charter day is required as a deposit to hold your dates. The balance is due 30 days prior to departure. 

Payment Option 2: $1,000 hold fee is required to hold your dates. This fee does not get applied to your charter cost. Balance is due 60 days prior.

Weather at the Channel Islands National Park

Marine weather at the Channel Islands can be unpredictable and very different from what we experience on the mainland.

Strong winds and/or very large swell are generally the conditions that force us to cancel trips.

We seldom have to cancel trips due to the weather during our peak season (May-November), but it does happen.

General weather forecasts do not predict the conditions that we're monitoring for, we used marine meteorological models. Some of these are very good at indicating unfavorable marine conditions far in advance, however forecasts can change rapidly.

We may make inclement weather cancellations up to three days in advance but most cancellations due to weather are made within 12 hours of departure. In some cases, we may need to cancel the morning of your trip.

You will ALWAYS receive a FULL refund or credit for any weather cancellations prior to departure.
